Base Camp Church
3979 Tilden Avenue, Culver City
Between the CDC, California, and LA County, we’ve combed through over 40 pages of guidelines to gather as a church. We’re doing our best to follow everything as requested by our state and local government and to take every precaution recommended for the health of our people and the sake of our visible conduct out in the world.
Both our local and church communities have been torn on a variety of topics surrounding proper conduct through this coronavirus season. Churches must walk in the tension of staying true to what they believe defines the local church, as well as remain all things to all people so that by all means we may save some. We pray that this gathering aligns with both goals.
You must read these details before coming!
(sign the waiver AT THE BOTTOM IF IT’S YOUR FIRST TIME)
1. Parking in our parking lot will be limited since we’ll be using most of it for our gathering, but it should not be difficult to find street parking when the lot is full.
2. Seek emergency medical care immediately if you’re experiencing ANY of these symptoms: trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion, inability to wake or stay awake, or bluish lips or face. Other common symptoms are a cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or a new loss of taste or smell.
PLEASE STAY HOME if you are sick, have any of the common symptoms, or are at an increased risk of becoming sick. Also note that the current tests are not 100% accurate so even if you test negative but have symptoms, please stay home.
3. Everyone must bring a clean cloth face covering for themselves. Spare masks will be on hand if you end up forgetting yours. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has made it very clear in their guidelines to churches that the face coverings are for the express purpose of reducing the risk of “asymptomatic” or “pre-symptomatic” transmission. In other words, the face mask is intended to keep your germs to yourself when you unknowingly carry the virus but don’t have any symptoms. Whatever your thoughts are about face masks, we want to be clear about the CDC’s expressed purpose of the masks.
4. Remember to remain over 6 feet away from everyone that you do not live with. Every HOUSEHOLD will be given their own space. RESIST THE URGE to give hugs, handshakes, fist-bumps, or holy kisses :) In addition to distancing for potential safety reasons, we want to be mindful of our Christian reputation in our local community.
5. Be familiar with how to properly wash your hands and how to properly cough. Be sure to always cover your cough with the inside of your elbow. Do not cough into your hand. When washing, wet your hands, apply soap, rub your hands together to lather all areas of your hands (the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails), scrub for at least 20 seconds (sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice or say the Lord’s Prayer), rinse well, and dry your hands on a clean towel or disposable paper towel.
6. Be ready to LET US KNOW if you start to feel unwell midway through our time together.
